Although nobody truly knows when the exact dates of peak fall foliage will be, we can assume that peak colors will hit the Cedar area in last September, around October 4, 2025 leaves in some areas will be in its prime. Late September to early October is the perfect time to continue your family's annual Halloween traditions in the crisp, autumn temperatures. Just a short drive from Leelanau Pines, Sleeping Bear Dunes showcases some of the most stunning natural beauty Michigan has to offer. Winding through the heart of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, this 7.4-mile loop takes you on a journey through one of Michigan’s most picturesque landscapes. The Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive becomes especially breathtaking in autumn, when the surrounding woods are lit up with fiery fall colors. One of the highlights of the drive is the Lake Michigan Overlook-offering a dramatic, unforgettable view high above the shoreline that you won’t want to miss.
