We've gathered everything you need to know about fall camping this season - including when the colors will be in peak and recommendations on the best spots to view the foliage.

Michigan Fall Foliage Prediction Map
Although nobody truly knows when the exact dates of peak fall foliage will be, we can assume that peak colors will hit the Cedar area in last September, around October 4, 2025 leaves in some areas will be in its prime. Late September to early October is the perfect time to continue your family's annual Halloween traditions in the crisp, autumn temperatures. For a more detailed view of the Michigan fall foliage map, you can check it out on the Almanac or American Forests websites.
We still have a variety of cabin rentals and RV Sites available during the fall time. If you're a glamper at heart, our best value cabin option is our White Pines Cabin. Nearby Areas for the Best Fall Foliage
As many of our campers, know, our Northern Michigan campground offers gorgeous views of the fall foliage, but it's also important to explore the surrounding areas for even more photo opportunities! We roped together a few places we recommend for scenic views of the fall colors below:
Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore
Just a short drive from Leelanau Pines, Sleeping Bear Dunes showcases some of the most stunning natural beauty Michigan has to offer. In the fall, the towering sand dunes overlook Lake Michigan fall foliage, where the shoreline is surrounded by brilliant shades of red, orange, and yellow. It’s a breathtaking place to take in the season and a must-visit for anyone who loves fall colors and scenic views.
Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive
Winding through the heart of Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, this 7.4-mile loop takes you on a journey through one of Michigan’s most picturesque landscapes. The Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive becomes especially breathtaking in autumn, when the surrounding woods are lit up with fiery fall colors. One of the highlights of the drive is the Lake Michigan Overlook-offering a dramatic, unforgettable view high above the shoreline that you won’t want to miss.
